".....The test of a man is how much he will bear
For a cause which he knows to be right,
How long will he stand in the depths of despair,
How much will he suffer and fight?
There are many to serve when the victory's near
And few are the hurts to be borne,
But it calls for a leader of courage to cheer
The men in a battle forlorn...."
I know the harmful impact that cancer has on people. I lost my grandfather to lung cancer. He was a good man who left too soon. I admired him for how he handled himself and how he supported his family. He always made sure they were taken care of. We miss him; he was our leader and our "Pop". Growing up, Pop wanted us to have a fighting spirit and to be tough when it was necessary. My participation in H4H will allow me to fight for him, for my family, and for the patients who lost, won, and are still in the fight with cancer.
Too many families have similar stories about losing loved ones to cancer, or currently have a loved-one fighting cancer. And many families won their fight with cancer, but still suffered in the fight to win. Fighting in H4H will allow me to raise money to help provide life saving researchers with the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure for cancer.
Fighting in H4H will also allow me to support One Mission, a pediatric cancer charity that does whatever it takes to get kids through cancer. Kids with cancer are still just kids; they love movie nights, play dates, ice cream and pizza parties. They love books, games, and toys. Donations to my page will help One Mission provide those things to the kids and their families. Whether it’s music & art therapy, birthday parties, holiday celebrations or paying for expensive hospital parking, One Mission covers these things to make life better for the kids & families during treatments.
- $10 funds one parking pass for a family.
- $25 can provide two toys for a Booty Box care package, giving patients a reason to smile.
- $50 can provide two end-of-chemo celebrations.
- $100 can fund three birthday parties allowing children to celebrate while in the hospital.
- $250 can fund a yoga or meditation session to help ease the physical and emotional pain of cancer.
Sometimes we can’t control the outcome for the patients, but we can control how much we help them in their fight. Stay in the fight. Thank you for your help.
