Like many cancer has impacted my loved ones, even more so in the past few years. None closer to home than my mother's battle. Throughout her treatments Mom kicked ass! Enduring everything thrown at her with courage, grace, and a fighter's spirit. Taking cancer's best shots, and kept moving forward. It's a helpless feeling wanting to, but not being able to take her place bearing the treatment's effects. It's also inspiring to see what new treatments accomplish. This is why we must continue supporting cancer research.
My fight to raise research funds continues this year, with H4H. Together we aim to top last year's $1 million total. I love this cause, and what it stands for. The boxing is for sport - fundraising is the mission! Donating to my corner means I will train harder than any other sport/race before. I promise to get in the ring prepared, take my opponents best punches, but keep coming forward. Thinking of the cancer survivors who inspire us to do so. For my mother a survivor, and for Papou, Uncle, and Cousin who are no longer with us. In doing that -- I'll endure physically (small in comparison) to finding a cure for those who eventually won't need to suffer.
