Goal
On Thursday, May 19th, I will be competing in the Haymakers for Hope Charity Boxing Event at the House of Blues and raising money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I am proud to contribute 100% of my donations to the same great foundation that my Aunt donated to for 16 years.
In 2000, I was introduced to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, through my Aunt Kelli, who ran for the DFMC team in the Boston Marathon for 16 years. She inspired me beyond belief to participate in a life goal that benefits such a great cause and for many years I had the opportunity to run the last 10 miles of the marathon with her. Up Heartbreak Hill, down through Boston College, into Kenmore Square, and up the overpass to the mile 25 marker. Mile 25 is the last rally point for all DFMC supporters, patients and patient families to give that extra push and cheer for runners as they near the Boylston Street Finish Line.
Last year during the post run celebrations, she announced she was officially done running Marathons (still don’t believe her) and that she is passing the torch down to one of her nieces, nephews and her sons. That was all I needed for motivation and I knew I wanted to be the one to pick up right where she left off. When it comes down to it though, I would rather get hit in the face for a few rounds, then train to run 26.2 miles.
Please support my goal of raising $5,000. Tickets will go on sale in March and by purchasing a ticket under my name that will contribute to my goal or you can donate using the link below.
Thank you in advanced for your support and contributions, and hope to see you all on May 19th!
