My mom, Marilou, my Aunt Michele, and both of my grandmothers, Mary Lou and Marylyn, have all been diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, due to early diagnoses through routine mammograms and incredible access to care, they are now in remission. I fight to honor the positivity, perseverance, and selflessness of the strong women in my family that serve as my role models.

When my journey becomes tough, I will look to this to remind myself of all the reasons I am committed to this cause:

• I fight to raise awareness of the importance of routine mammograms. Tell your mother, your sister, or your aunt to make time for the appointment they may have been pushing off. 


• I fight to spread awareness to encourage each one of us to take our health seriously and appreciate every moment we have with the people that we love.


• I fight so those that suffer do not suffer in silence. Many of us are going through a similar journey. I will be a friend, listen, share advice, or simply do whatever is needed to support you so you are not alone. 


• I fight to inspire others to commit to something bigger than themselves. This was a scary decision for me, but one that I know I will not regret. Do something that scares you and be proud of what you can accomplish.


• I fight because as the 3rd of 6 very competitive siblings, I have a hard time saying no to a physical challenge. I am committed to giving 100% of myself to this journey and will be proud of the physical and mental limits that I will push beyond.
