Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
Thanks for visiting my page to learn more about Haymakers for Hope, why I fight, and how you can help me KO cancer!
If there is one thing I’ve learned in my 30 years on Earth, it is that life is extremely fragile and delicate. I am fighting because I do not take my health and life for granted. I get to choose this fight, and I'm fighting on behalf of those who do not have the luxury of choosing their fight. Because when you’re diagnosed with cancer, you have no choice but to fight.
Everyone has their own experience and introduction to cancer. I was introduced to cancer at four-years-old when my grandfather was diagnosed. It all happened so fast; diagnosis, hospice moving into my grandparents living room, and then my dad was driving me over to say goodbye. I fight for my grandfather.
My sister is my best friend and without a doubt, the person I look up to the most. She has many titles, mother, wife, sister, coach, daughter, dog aunt, etc. But the one that I don’t get to see, and find most awe-inspiring, is nurse. She’s an oncology nurse at Dana Farber and has fought cancer every day throughout her decade-plus career as a nurse. I fight for her and her patients.
I've always been drawn to boxing. My father actually bought me my first pair of gloves when I was three-years-old. But, I really only started boxing four years ago and it has changed my life for the positive. The community of people and mentors the sport has introduced me to are unlike no other. I’ve been able to use boxing as a way of relieving stress, healing, and reconnecting with fitness in adulthood.
I feel truly honored and humbled to be a part of this group and combine my passion for boxing in the fight against cancer. Please join me!
Haymakers for Hope gives everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
