Cancer has impacted many people I love, most recently my dear friend Paul Steinhilber and my Uncle Doug Doherty. I am fighting in memory of them.
I grew up with Paul - he was my brother from another mother. We, along with my brother Tommy, and sisters Sharon and Joy, spent hours and hours playing outside on Overlook Road - a small town neighborhood in Narragansett, RI. Paul was always like a second brother to me. He protected me, he called me out if I wasn't behaving, he challenged me at sports, he attended family vacations with us...he always had my back. He loved me unconditionally and believed in me until the day he died.
My Uncle Doug was also a big supporter of mine. He was kind and compassionate and always looked out for the little guy. At his funeral dozens of people came forward with personal stories of how he positively impacted their lives, Always under the radar, never looking for recognition, a man of strong character with a wonderful sense of humor.
I fight for Paul and Uncle Doug along with their families.
