You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
The question asking Why do you fight? is the reason why I love boxing. No matter what background you come from, no matter the skill level, no matter the age, every single person who picks up a pair of boxing gloves is fighting for a reason. Boxing makes you think about why you're fighting in the first place, what or who you're fighting for, and it's that feeling that keeps you coming back every day.
I've always wanted to step in the ring, but now I get to do it for something so much bigger than myself. If me putting in some work for a few months is going to help those who are fighting for their lives, then I will do everything I can to support and fight with them.
I fight in the memory of family and friends that I've lost who have played a major role in making me who I am today.
I fight alongside my brother, a Marine, who signed up to fight for our country.
I fight for my family, because they are my world.
I fight to prove to myself that I have what it takes to give everything I have to this journey.
And I fight for all of those who are currently battling cancer, have battled, and for all of the family and friends who are impacted by their loved ones going through the fight. That's a fight I could never imagine going through. For anyone going through it or have gone through it, now that's true strength.
No matter how tired, scared, or mentally exhausted I get through these next four months, remembering these reasons why I am fighting is what will keep me going.
I feel honored to now be a part of this amazing organization and event, and I won't take a single day for granted. I'm fighting to KO Cancer alongside these other 31 amazing ladies, and I'm hoping to help make a difference in every way that I can.
