A punch in the face doesn't hurt nearly as much as chemotherapy or losing a loved one to cancer
Cancer is everywhere. Over the years many friends, family members, and classmates have bravely fought this disease. While many of them were lucky enough to beat it, others unfortunately were not.
I'm fighting in Belles of the Brawl to raise money, awareness, and support for all of those who fight without a choice. I chose to fight because I understand that the pain of a punch to the jaw or gut is nothing when compared to the pain of chemo, surgery, or losing a loved one to cancer.
I grew up in Miami, Florida where I had a happy, healthy, and sunny childhood. As a child, I trained in classical ballet for fifteen years and danced from the ages of 3 to 18. I'm ready to swap the ballet slippers and tights for boxing gloves and mouth-guards in doing my part to knock out cancer.
I'm particularly inspired by a close family friend and caregiver who battled and defeated breast cancer while undocumented in the US. She received, and continues to receive, life-saving care completely free of charge through the Jackson Health System in South Florida.
The money that I raise through your generous donations and ticket sales will be entirely contributed to the Children's Cancer Fund in Miami, an affiliate of the Jackson Health foundation.
