Most know me as Denise, the ‘Hair Wizard’ from Boston that picked up fitness boxing as a form of exercise. I have been a hair stylist for many years!  What most don’t know ... more often than not I am faced with the incredibly difficult task of shaving the head of someone who has begun fighting their battle. 

 

Cancer affects ALL of us. Whether you’re a daughter, mother, friend, co-worker, doctor or patient. My co-worker, Stephanie, lost her brother to T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma at just 10 years old. Sonny didn’t get to sign up for his fight, cancer chose him. This life is so short and so precious and no child deserves to be sick. 

 

Because Sonny’s disease was discovered postmortem, all the money raised will go to pediatric cancer in hopes of earlier detection rates and finding a cure. “It’s always Sonny!”

 

I will fight for Sonny, for the survivors, for the taken, and to raise money and awareness for this disease that has affected so many. I will fight so that maybe one day, I will never be asked to remove another precious strand of hair. Not every fight ends at the bell. Let’s #KO cancer!
