Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
Why I fight?
I started boxing in 2014. I began boxing to build self-confidence and manage the anxiety I had been struggling with since high school. Through boxing, I gained strength, confidence, courage, empowerment, and determination.
I had always dreamt of gathering the courage and strength to step into the ring. Now, I get to step into the ring to fight for something that I hold so deeply in my heart. I get to fight for a cause - for friends and family who have or are suffering from cancer.
I fight for my family, who has been strongly impacted by this disease. I fight to celebrate my family and the journey we have overcome together.
I fight for my friends and family that have battled cancer and those that have been or will be impacted by this disease. I fight to stand beside them in their battles, the ones they have fought, the ones they are currently fighting, and the ones they will fight in the future.
While my training over the next few months will be a small struggle compared to the fight my friends and family have gone through, I am honored to be able to support them through this program and to use their motivation and strength to guide me through the next four months of training.
I’ve decided for the donations and ticket sales from my Haymakers for Hopejourney to go to the Ellie Fund (https://www.elliefund.org/)
Their mission is to provide essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing.
They provide transportation to medical appointments, light housekeeping, nutritional and grocery assistance, childcare reimbursement, nutritious prepared/delivered meals and integrative therapy services free of charge.
