Haymakers for Hope Attempts to Knockout Cancers by Hosting Inaugural ‘Rumble in the Rockies’ Charity Boxing Event in Denver
Colorado Residents Invited to Compete in USA Boxing Sanctioned Event at Fillmore Auditorium
Haymakers for Hope, a Boston-based 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer through charitable boxing events, expands to Denver for the inaugural “Rumble in the Rockies” bout. First-time boxers will enter the ring at the Fillmore Auditorium on June 14, 2018, in attempt to literally knockout cancer.
Haymakers for Hope (H4H) transforms everyday individuals into amateur boxers through a four-month training program. Each athlete is assigned a top-level coach at one of Colorado’s finest boxing facilities. Through fundraising and training, athletes will compete in their first USA Boxing sanctioned event in front of a packed audience. Haymakers for Hope is open to both men and women, with no previous boxing experience required. The Haymaker’s team will match opponents based on age, weight and experience to make sure all participants are in a safe and controlled bout. Sign-ups for the Denver event will open on January 1, 2018, in time for those pursuing New Year’s resolutions.
“We believe now more than ever in Haymakers and its potential to create a new method of fundraising, to challenge everyday men and women to their limits, and to scale its charitable contributions to millions annually,” said Haymakers for Hope co-founder, Andrew Myerson. “We are excited to work with amazing organizations in the Denver community and raise funds and awareness to local organizations who are providing lifesaving research and programming."
With successful events in Boston and New York, Haymakers for Hope has hand-selected Denver as its newest market due to the city’s passionate nonprofit partners, groundbreaking medical facilities and commitment to fitness and well-being. Since hosting its first boxing event in 2011, Haymakers for Hope has raised nearly $8 million for cancer research, care, awareness and survivorship. On November 16th, H4H hosted its sixth annual “Hope NYC” event, which raised over $890,000.
